Has there been any development on the R800 front (piezo for example)?

I have owned this printer for about 6 months. While I am happy with the color it produces I have yet to make an acceptable B&W print. I can't find a BO setting on it, nor have I found any literarture on RIPS to work with it. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

My experience: * using the supplied ICC profiles yields B&W with a rich, chocolate tone. While not neutral, it is quite pleasing * using a custom-made ICC profile yields dead-neutral B&W with no perceptible colour shifts While with colour the R800 struggles with subtle skin tones and browns, its B&W performance is just fine for my purposes. Suggestions: 1. download the R1800 (yes, 1800) profiles from the US web site and try those. They are apparently newer than the R800 ones and, since the printers are near identical, work fine. 2. pay for custom profiles. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "percusguy" <percusguy@y...> wrote:

Another possibility is to download QTR which has profiles for EEM Steve --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "andrew" <andrew@a...> wrote: > My experience: > > * using the supplied ICC profiles yields B&W with a rich, chocolate tone. I thank you for your response, Andrew, and I regret not getting back to you sooner. Could you please explain "supplied ICC profiles" and how does one obtain a "custom-made ICC profile"? I asked Epson tech support about downloading R1800 profiles and they said they would not work. I still intend to try if you say so. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "andrew" <andrew@a...> wrote: > My experience: > > * using the supplied ICC profiles yields B&W with a rich, chocolate tone.
