I've recently purchased a large quanity of Crane Museo Paper to print a series which is very graphic i.e. black blacks and white whites without much in between. However, the Museo (at least when set to Heavyweight Matte)prints very splotchy blacks when a large black area. I don't have this probloem with Ham PhotoRag or Orwell and I'm wondering if there is a way to rectify the problem. Thanks for your collective wisdom.

I could not get museo to work with Ut2, but it was quite good with lyson dye inks. Maybe just not optimized for pigment inks?...DM On Dec 8, 2004, at 4:00 PM, bisarago wrote: > > > I've recently purchased a large quanity of Crane Museo Paper to > print a series which is very graphic i.e. black blacks and white > whites without much in between. I used Crane Museo with the Epson pigment CF inkset for about a year. It always had disappointing result with deep shadows. It seems to take just so much black ink and that's it. Of all the rag papers that I tested it really was one of the more difficult to print on because the ink absorption had to be perfect. If that wasn't enough it scratched worse than just about any rag paper I ever used. Epson in Long Beach even admitted it to me and sent me a whole set of inks and 2 rolls of other media to make up for it. I don't understand why that even still make that stuff. I never liked it with monochrome at all. It just can't take much black thrown at it. Did a few beautiful color things though. In my opinion, the new Premier Art rag ( Ultra Smooth Epson ) is a vast improvement for this type of media. john --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, Douglas Meeuwsen <lipshurt@m...> wrote:

I used Museo with UT2 and got pretty nice results, I guess all this is a matter of printer set up and the picture itself may be. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Douglas Meeuwsen" <lipshurt@...> To: <DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Thursday, December 09, 2004 3:31 AM Subject: Re: [Digital BW] MIS UT7 and Crane Museo - bad blacks - why?
