Since My 1280 Has Expired

I started thinking of some alternatives for any prints I may want made. So I put a few images I had worked in PS, including B/W(in RGB) and Color versions of the same image, onto a Smart Media card and went down to the local WalMart. I went to their 1 hour photo dept. where they have a Fuji Frontier system. I went to the Fuji Aladdin station, put the SM card into the slot and followed the directions for making a 5x7 made of each image. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the pics. The prints ate on Fuji Crystal Archive paper which reminds me of Ilford Gallerie smooth pearl. The color prints were fantastic, sharp and brilliant colors, esp. one macro of a bright yellow daffodil The B/W were kind of flat with no good rich black so I would want to up the contrast a bit and maybe add a curve.... but it was sharp and had no metamorism or bronzing. I am hoping there is more Dmax in the system than what I got. Anyway, as a fallback I was pretty pleased but I would like more paper/finish choice. I still would rather do my own. Jerry in Houston
