BO Not Working

BO Not Working

2004-12-18 by Richard Smallfield

Hello,
I've happily printed both BO and QTR on my 2100 ... but I've just been trying to do a BO print and what appears to be happening is that the printer is only laying down the black ink that it would if all the colours were being used - so not much ink is being laid down at all - only the darkest 25% or so.

I am using exactly the same BO settings that I used before. The Adobe Photoshop driver is set to Gray Gamma 2.2 as it would be for BW prints on my HP 7660.

Can anyone please give me an idea of what might be wrong?

Many thanks in advance,
Richard

I had the exact same problem on my 2100 (XP SP1). I have never got
BO to work with the 2100 drivers, so the fact that you have at some
stage in the past means that you're way ahead of me.

There have been a number of posts in this group in the past to the
effect that people have had to install the 2200 drivers in order to
get BO to work on a 2100. I did this and it worked for me.

Note however that if you install the 2200 drivers, the status
monitor will not work, neither the 2100 version nor the 2200
version. Best option is probably to install the 2200 drivers (but
not the 2200 status monitor), in addition to the 2100 drivers. That
way you use 2200 for BO and 2100 for everything else.

I have not tried the BO with the latest 2100 drivers (3.50?), so
there is a chance that it will work with them, but personally I'd
doubt it.

I prefer QTR.

Hi,
thanks a lot for that - I'll try your advice. But, like you, I prefer QTR.
