Installing and Using QTR For Windows

Installing and Using QTR For Windows

2004-12-22 by bullitt46

I downloaded the package and also got the QTR GUI. After I ran the
installation, it took a little while to figure out where it had
installed it, but I finally tracked it down to the Program
Files\QuadToneRIP folder. There was no documentation in that folder,
but I found that running the self-extracting zip had created a
folder in the directory where I had downloaded it and there was an
RTF file in that folder, so I opened it and read it. It referred to
a Print-2200.bat file which doesn't exist, so I tried the GUI
instead.

The GUI looks similar to the Linux version, which I actually had up
and running once, so I felt I was in familiar territory. However,
when I try to print absolutely nothing happens, except for a command
window that pops up and disappears before I can see what's going on.
I am running XPPro and I am on a network. I have a 2200 on USB001
and shared with the share name Quad2200. Looking at the log files, I
once saw an error of an unknown tag in the TIFF file, so I recreated
the file with Photoshop 6 (it originally came from Photoshop CS
which I thought might not be compatible). Still absolutely nothing.
I am a computer professional, I run the Imageprint RIP on my 7600, I
have previously run QTR on my 2200 from Linux, and I am completely
mystified. Maybe I should just go back to the Linux version?

Thanks,
Stan

If you set the "DEBUG" option in the GUI, the command window will stay open.
Then you may be able to see what is going on.

You should find Print-2200.bat in \Program Files\QuadToneRIP\bin (at
least, I did).

I'd recommend using the QTRgui rather than the .bat files. The newer
version 2.1b and latest QTRgui are much more convenient.

The only batch file in my folder is quatoneprint.bat ...? Reloaded
and got the same thing...

Trying to print w/o the the GUI because can't get to work (W2k) ...

Thanks in advance!

I did start out using the QTRgui, but as I mentioned, absolutely nothing
happens when I click on the "Print" button except that a command window
opens, scrolls some text, and closes very quickly. So I thought I'd try the
batch file, but it doesn't exist. I'm happy with Imageprint for my 7600, but
I'd really like to be able to print B&W without metamerism on my 2200 also,
so I'd like to use QTR for that printer. If necessary, I can go back to
using my Linux box for it, but I'd really prefer to use my Linux box for
other things than a print server.
