Hi. I know MIS doesn't make b&w inks for the epson r800. Any suggestions to maximize quality of b&w printing on r800? Any other manufacturers of shades of gray for the r800? THANK YOU!!!!

Been there, tried that ... It's fantastic for color. You'll save a lot of money by picking up an Epson C86 + UT EZ inks rather than struggling with all the options, only to get a print that looks fine by your computer, horrible in your living room. It would be a pity to take those color inks out when they do so well. Even if you find some carbon inks or equivalents for the R800, I find it difficult to imagine that the result would be better than the C86/MIS. I never tried black-only with it. Daniel, If this last remark of your referred to the R800, it doesn't have a black-only setting! It has two monochrome settings, one for grayscale files and one for rgb files. Bob Frost. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Daniel Ridings" <daniel.ridings@...> I never tried black-only with it.

Now I remember why I never tried it :) I get confused between the two Epson drivers. The C86 has it. Now that you mention it, I was pleasantly suprised to see it there since the R800 didn't have it. Thanks!

You can install the japanese version of the R800 driver (The GUI is in English, just the paper choices are slightly different) and it has it. But BO doesn't look any good anyway with the UC ink with the greenish cast as explained previously.
