Creating profiles/curves for QTR RIP/7600 UC

Creating profiles/curves for QTR RIP/7600 UC

2005-01-21 by dpiprinter

I am completely new to using QTR but have been really happy with my results thus far. I
would however like to create a profile with i1 for ilford galerie pearl paper. I have read the
directions for creating the profile for soft proofing, however I am unclear if I can produce
profiles/curves when it comes to using them in the RIP. How difficult is this process?

Thanks!

Well, i have been researching this topic for a bit, and really havent
made much progress. The Windows version does not apparently supply all
of the required pieces, and the MacOS version, while it provides some
of the extras, i believe is somewhat out of date. (I believe that the
format of the profiling files changed with version 2.x, and I am not
sure that the Mac version followed.)

While QTRGui provides a 'calibration' mode for printing certain
targets, there really doesnt seemed to be much overall information
available on how to go about this process.

I posted a similar item last week on this list because I would like to
do the same using lyson cave paints on my 7600, and build the
appropriate profiles, but I pretty much recieved no responses to my
earlier request.

So I guess the question, more generally, is 'What is the current state
of profile building in QTR, is it version sensitive (apparently), and
is there a documented process somewhere for the current release that
explains this?

Profiling is under development for the Windows version. It is not supported
in the current version even though some of the building blocks have been
released.
