1280 clogging

1280 clogging

2005-02-02 by zonepeter

I am sorry for another post about clogging with a 1280, but I seem to
be having a different kind of problem and the Yahoo archive search is
no help.

I am experiencing clogs in multiple heads that began after installing
a new UT2 cart. I have tried most of the usual solutions; returning
to OEM ink, letting the printer rest overnight, various windex
tricks, etc. What is new to me is that I can occasionally get a good
nozzle check. I then try to print a purge pattern and I find that I
get lots of banding. I then print another nozzle check and find I am
back where I started and cleanings don't help.

Any suggetsions?

Thanks for the help.

Peter

I'm having a similar problem. I'm able to get a clean purge pattern
with the OEM inks, but put the UT2 back in and half the jets are
clogged. Tried windex.

It's possible that the OEM ink does not mix well with UT2. Search
the http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EPSON_Printers/ for recent posts
by Art Entlich for head soaking solution involving household ammonia
and windex which will dissolve whatever that is sitting in your
printhead. After purging the head of the sudsy stuff you should be
able to use UT2.

Or perhaps the easy way is to get a cleaning cartridge from MIS.
Always use this cleaning cartridge if you switch between the OEM and
UT2 type inks.

There is a new post in the EPSON_Printers forum which maybe relevant
