BO on R800

BO on R800

2005-02-14 by Stephen Kobrin

I would like to try BO on my R800 but cannot find an option in the
driver to tell the printer to use only black ink. Will sending a
gray-scale file accomplish the same purpose?

While I am on the topic, I find the paper feed in the R800 very
touchy, to say the least. I am begining to wonder if there is a
problem with my printer or if that is a general characteristic of
this model. Any thoughts appreciated.

The R800 has no "Black Only" option in it's driver.

I have noticed that my R800 has a hard time with "grabbing" Kirkland
Glossy.

Sometimes it willpass the paper through 2 times before it will print.

Don't know why, though.

You may feed any paper to 1.3 mm thick from front. Exactly as you print CD.

No thoughts ... just frustration!

Sometimes it's fine. Other times it just feeds paper through, rejecting
each sheet. I can't find a clear pattern -- paper type, weight,
humidity. Perhaps it correlates with the amount of time I have before the
next boat from Peaks Island!

Printer was replaced under warranty once. New printer has the same issues.

one dirty trick - try to plug out the power cord from your printer
when printing. Wait one minute and plug in again.

This reset the internal memories of all Epson devices.

I am not sure whether I am relieved or concerned to find out that it
is not just my priter. One thing that seems to help sometimes is to
have either backing and/or a stack of paper behind the sheet you want
to print. I keep a wad of laser paper in the feed, but it does not
always work, especially with EEM.

Thanks for all of the replies,

Steve
