A plug for IJC/OPM - and a thank you to Joe Berndt

First a disclaimer; I don't know Joe Berndt or have any links with him whatsoever other than I use his IJC/OPM software. I purchased IJC/OPM reluctantly - I felt I shouldn't really need to pay for something that Epson could conceivably have built into their driver software. However I wanted/needed to print black & white images that were as good as those as I used to do in a wet darkroom and despite having a printer dedicated to B&W with monochrome inks (as well as a colour printer) something was missing. Results were pretty good but not quite good enough. Hence I took a chance on OPM/IJC. With Joe's software (and his willingness to respond to my questions) the results are far better than anything I've had previously. There have been a few teething problems - some my own stupidity, a couple of software glitches (now fixed)- but I've got there in the end and despite my reluctance to part with money for anything it has been well worth it. There is a good tutorial available and Joe has answered my queries swiftly and effectively. I've spent a good few hours staring at the screen messing about with curves and I've used a fair amount of ink and paper in the process but for the first time I have a setup that I am confident of producing B&W prints that I (and others) are happy with. There is still plenty to do (I feel my sepia is not quite there yet) but if anyone is serious about B&W inkjet printing then IJC/OPM is to my mind definitely the way to go. There that's enough praise for one night. ....Joe, now what about that free holiday you promised me?
