QuadToneRIP and Qimage and LittleCMS

QuadToneRIP and Qimage and LittleCMS

2005-02-17 by Roy Harrington

Some really nice collaboration has just been released.

There are some new versions of:
the QTR gray/rgb space and printing profiles.
a new version of Qimage containing a new little-cms.

All this works together for a color managed workflow from the
screen to the print.

See:

Roy

I thanked Mike profusely in the Qimage list, so it only seems fair
that I should do the same for you here.

Armstrong would say

"One small step for man, a giant leap for mankind!"

Thank you.

By the way: in your documentation, you say that the icc profiles should be
saved at

\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Color\Profiles

Please notice that the default directory is

C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\color

You might consider updating the doc.

Thank you again

Nelson

The RGB profiles are not rejected by Picture Window Pro
either. Have to test their effect in that program however.

I missed Roy's original post - have the QTR Gray profiles changed? Or just
the RGB ones?

I'm fairly sure that they've all changed. The file sizes for all 6
are larger than before. As I understand it, part of the collaboration
was some advice that Roy got from Mike Chaney (Qimage) about how to
create the profiles in a way that maximised their compatibility with
various programs and standards.

I'm printing some more test results as I type, trying out various
workflows with the new profiles, and so far I'm getting even more
WYSIWYG results than before, with better shadow separation. But I will
have a few questions ...
