Re: [Digital BW] HP 8750 PhotoSmart with 9-color inks

The HP printers are good machines and dye inks are beginning to close the archival gap with pigments. However, HP's ratings are based on staying on the OEM path; using their inks with their papers. This relationship can be critical, not just with HP, but all inkjet printers. Clogging isn't always caused by the inks. There can be other issues: paper flaking, dust from the environment, hardware flaws. My experience, with HP and Epson printers, is that ink related clogging is very marginal when OEM inks are used. I've seen excellent grayscale prints from an HP 130, but the printer was linearized and custom profiled.
