On someone's advice, I purchased these papers for B&W printing: Condor BW, Epson Velvet Fine Art, Hahnemuhle Photo Rag. I find no curves on QuadToneRIP 2.2a for these papers. Can one use one of the provided curves? if so, which? Or are there curves for these papers that can be inserted into QTRIP? (Win XP 2200 UC) Donald

I recently asked the question "what paper do the CBright curves refer to" and the answer turned out to be Condor Bright White. I'm certain that "HPhotoRag" is for Hahnemuhle Photo Rag. These curves show up for the 4000. Take another look at the curves and make sure you installed your printer correctly in QTR. I'm hoping Donald gets another answer. I have the same question. The only way to install the printer correctly is to choose it when you run the isntallation program. As far as I can see there is very limited support for papers other than Epson Enhanced Matte with the 2100/2200. None of the other usual ones (Hahnemühle is the one I'm missing). Daniel

Thanks Walt. Now how do I get those curves to show in the QuadToneRIP menu? I installed the Curve Creator and tried that, but got this message after selecting one of the .quad curve files: "Error loading Ink Description O." Appreciate your guidance. You simply put them in the same directory where you have the rest of the .quad files for your printer. In my case, that's in \Program Files\QuadToneRIP\QuadTone\Quad2200 Walt

The .quad files are not ink descriptor files. They are "compiled" curve files for printing. I don't know what the folder hierarchy is on the PC, but they should be placed in the same folder with your other .quad files. Carl Schofield

The error reported is from an ink description file with something wrong in it. In this case, the "O" which is not a valid item in a QIDF file. If the file you have is a .QUAD file, then it is already a curve and as Walt said, just put in the folder with the rest of the QUAD files. If it is a QIDF, then it needs to be "compiled" by the curve generator. Since you are getting an error, there is something amiss with the file. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen
