Unheard of D-Max!

Unheard of D-Max!

2005-03-08 by jimpegoda

I've been doing a lot of research through the archives on paper
yet still have a couple questions. Inkjet Art makes some pretty big
claims about its Museum Digital Art Paper saying it's the same
formulation as PFA Hot Press and that it can handle big ink
loads "reaching unheard of maximum densities"! Wow, sounds
too good to be true, has anyone else experienced the splendor of
these "unheard of maximum densities" with this paper?

Does anyone have experience with the above version or the original
205g/m2 PFA Hot Press paper to know if it is heavy enough to
withstand buckling? I'm also wondering if it gets the mottled-
burnished look that some papers can get in the dark values from the
ink load. I understand that it doesn't flake.

My samples of H PhotoRag flaked like crazy even after brushing and
blowing, no buckling or mottling though.

I'll be ordering some sample packs to do my own research but I've
got a deadline (don't we all) and PFA Hot Press or its clone from
Inkjet Art seems like a safe bet for now.

Thanks,
Jim

I tried some of the Inkjet Art Museum Digital paper about a year ago as was
un-impressed. I don't think it's the same as PremierArt Hot Press. Among
other things, the paper I tested flaked; PremierArt does not. The dmax was
nothing special.

The PremierArt 205 is not as thick as some like, but I think it is capable
of making fine prints. There is really only one way to see if it'll suit
you -- try some.
