7600 maintenance

7600 maintenance

2005-03-09 by Paul Roark

I am starting to experiment with a used 7600 and have noticed it has an
annoying, noisy fan (I think). Has anyone ever opened one of these up and
replaced parts? Is there a manual on line that is useful? Are parts easily
available?

Thanks.

Paul

Hi Paul,

The fan problem is not uncommon on both 7600 and 9600 machines.
Sometimes they quiet down a bit after they've been running a while,
and sometimes they're too annoying and just need to be replaced ;>)

Here's a URL for a very good service manual:

http://web.archive.org/web/20030812073637/www.visual-
artists.com/Manuals/SP76_9600_A.pdf

It's an 18 meg pdf, so it takes a while to download but is fairly
complete with exploded service diagrams, etc. The fans are pretty
easy to access and not too difficult to replace.

In terms of parts, I have found that Compass Micro
(www.compassmicro.com) is very reasonable, has good inventory levels
and are very helpful to work with.

Hope this is of assistance to you...

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
