Perhaps OT request re albums

Perhaps OT request re albums

2005-03-17 by Ken Carney

I have a project where I need to produce three archival albums of photos of
various Benedictine monasteries. There will be about 30-40 prints per
album. I was going to print on letter-size HM PR 308, but I have little
information on how to assemble into an album. The only choices I see are
(1) to have the prints bound into an album some way or (2) to have the
prints loose in an archival box with interleaf sheets. Light Impressions
purports to have an album kit that can be bound, and I have an email in to
find out what the matte paper is. Binding into an album seems attractive.
Cost is not a consideration within reason (reason meaning I would like to
keep the costs of binding and the album covers to about $150 each or
less...). Most of the prints will be max 6x9, so I thought letter size
might work well. Any experience, thoughts or advice very welcome!

You might also consider the products at

I don't have any personal experience with these, but perhaps someone
else on the list does.

Hello Ken,

What a great assignment! A teriffic opportunity.

Have a look at this:

It's the best I've seen because you can use the paper of your own
choice.

Good luck on the project. Please let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Clayton

Thanks very much, Clayton. It looks like this is exactly what I had in
mind. The albums will be about 40 prints each now, which is the capacity of
their binder.

Ken,

You can also check out the MOAB site. They have a leather album
called Chinle which uses their Entrada paper. The album is post
bound and I believe the paper is pre-scored so the pages open
easily. I have used Flex Hinges before in an album and they are not
the easiest to use. Also, the adhesive on hinge may come loose.

Good luck on your project.
