What about the folks in Asia? C83 instead of C86

What about the folks in Asia? C83 instead of C86

2005-03-17 by joshuateong

Hi,

I recently stumbled on the C86/C84 usability with MIS EZ system.
I got pretty excited and went looking for the printers.

The thing is, I live in Thailand, and in this part of the world,
Epson sells the C84 under the C83 name. We don't even have the C86.

I did some checking on the net and found that C83 ink product codes
are different from C84/C86. For example, cyan is marketed under T0472
for C83 whereas it is T0442 for C84/C86. The pictures of the
cartridges certainly look the same to me though.

My question is, will I be able to enjoy the EZ system with an Epson
Stylus C83 printer? Sorry for my noobness, but what determines
compatibility besides ink cartidge specs?

We have another lower end Epson Stylus C65 that uses the same ink as
the C83/C84. It's rated slower, but also seems like a similar printer
in my untrained eyes. If this works too, I'll be a very happy man
because it is dirt cheap.

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Josh,

Did you buy the C83 yet? Here's why I ask. I bought the C84 and use
the EZ inks in it. Of course I removed the color carts. What I was
thinking is if you bought the C83 I could send you the unopened,
brand new color carts for the C84.
If they fit the C83 I would assume that the EZ inks would work
perfectly, from a Cartridge fitting perspective anyway.

If so drop me a line off the group and I'll send you the carts. (They
might have a little Texas dust on them but that's OK)

Jules

Basically the cartridge are the same except the C84/86 big black ink
cart. but the standard cart. that use on the CMY can be put in the K
position.

The only big different is the chip on the C84/86 will not be
recognize by the Asian/Australian C63/83/65 and via versa but you can
always replace it with the chips on the original C63/83/65.

By the way, an Australian friend of mine been using the C65 with EZ
B&W inkset.

Hope this helps.

That is EXACTLY what I am waiting to hear!
Wonderful! Guess I'll be a MIS customer very soon!

By the way, what's your friend's satisfaction level with the C65 and
EZ B&W combo? Have you seen a print?

Thanks very much.

He is happy with the print-out but I have not seen them unless
he is willing to air-mail some prints to me.
