advantage QTR over QTRgui?

advantage QTR over QTRgui?

2005-03-24 by Djon

I'm very happy with QTRgui...there are *never* any bad surprises and
black is always black, when I want it to be.

I can from long experience previsualize B&W from color, just as from
the "real world," and I don't mind a couple of test prints while I get
the B&W output I'm after from color on my monitor...(I do get very
accurate color Vs color)...and the QTRgui sliders make it easy get the
kind of tone I like the most from any give paper (I like old Agfa
Portriga Rapid look on Entrada).

So what advantage is there in working with QTR, rather than with QTRgui?

There is no difference that I know of. The gui is just the graphic
interface that makes QTR user friendly.
Otherwise you would have to do it all in text editors.

If you're using QTRgui (are you?) what are you tweaking to make
yourself happier with it?

Yes, I am using QTRgui. I don't do any big time tweaking. I prepare
files as many have described on this board and print. I am playing
with curve creation right now to see if I can get improvments and
then may try some other ink and paper combinations, but I find QTRgui
to work well "out of the box"

I am using a 1280 with UT2 inks.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
