13" wide roll paper for Epson 2200

13" wide roll paper for Epson 2200

2005-03-26 by Andrei Aderca

Not sure that my search was thorough enough but the only thing I came up
with
was Epson premium glossy and premium luster for this width in roll format.
Are there any matte papers out there produced in this format ?

Regards

Andrei

Some, but not a lot...

Illuminata Photo Cotton
Moab Entrada
Somerset Photo Enhanced

The big problem is that the 2200 takes a fairly small roll of paper (1.5 inch core, I believe). A lot of matte papers have coatings that crack or flake if you try to bend them around that small a radius.

That's why some folks get 24, 33, or 44 inch rolls (on 3 inch cores, much easier on the paper) and cut the rolls down on a bandsaw, then build a 3 inch roll paper holder behind the 2200.

Personally, for matte papers, I like brushing off every single sheet, so I brush a sheet, load it in the hopper, brush another sheet, load it in, until I have 5 sheets or so loaded...

You can't really brush roll paper. Entrada, especially, I would not go near on roll paper...

Ciao!

Digitalartsupplies.com sells rolls cut to 13". I've bought a
few rolls of Hahnemhle Photo Rag 308 from them. The
minor problem is the large core, which doesn't fit the 2200.
I just hung the roll on a 1" wood dowel clamped horizontally
between two light stands, behind the printer; stuck the paper
in the roll-feed slot, and never had a problem.

Photo Rag has less "flaking" than Entrada, but just to be sure,
I unroll about a foot more than I'm going to print, and then
wipe it with a clean cloth. It takes just a few minutes, and is
worth the effort.
