First UT7 prints

First UT7 prints

2005-03-26 by neilsphoto

I just installed UT7 inks in my 2200 today. So far I can't get a good
nozzle check. After 2 cleaning cycles the check is worse. I made
some prints from cool to sepia to use all the inks.

It seems as if there are no mid tones at all. Contrast is very high
and this is from a file that makes a perfect BO print.

More cleaning and nozzle checks later the checks are getting worse
like the inks in the magenta anf lt magenta postions especially aren't
spraying hardly at all.

Do you think that the inks just need to "settle", let the ink level
find inself? For all I know they were packed and sat for days upside
down. The air holes on top are clear. The ink monitor sees ink in all
positions.

Ideas?

Thanks

Neil

Neil;

Letting them stand in the upright position for a few hours is always a
good idea; the other thing to try is to put a syringe w/ bottom fill
adapter to the exit port and pull out a bit of ink to make sure there
isn't air trapped around the nozzle. If you get the translucent carts
and bulk ink you can see if this is a problem.

The carts are translucent but I didn't think to look before loading.
So I'll let them sit for awhile and see what I get. I don't have any
syringe or anything like that.

I never had this with the MIS Ebony I've been using for a year.

Thanks
