New user-C86 & MIS EZ warm inks

2005-04-11 by merrybo

Hi Everyone,

I'm a longtime 'lurker' on this forum, gathering info on b&w
printing - :-) I had a darkroom in my youth (a long time ago!!)and
I've always loved the magic of mono.
I've finally plumped for the Epson C86 amd MIS EZ warm ink set. Just
received both and I'm wondering if it's ok to just go ahead and load
the EZ inks without first installing the Epson inks?

Also, any hints and tips gratefully received. This is my first foray
into using a printer solely for mono printing and I'm all atizz with
anticipation and excitement!

I've read Paul Roark's info on this setup, which is, of course, very
clear and helpful as usual - anything else I should know?

TIA,
Anne

Anne:

Just Put in the MIS carts and print away, it's that easy (but listen to
Paul).

The Epson carts make very good paper weights.

Anne,

I'd just go ahead and load the EZ ink. If there is a problem you'll still
have the Epson ink that you can load to be sure it's not the printer.

Hope it works for you. The EZ warm is pure carbon -- quite warm but very
lightfast. If you want to cool it down just a bit, one or two EZ neutrals
will do it.

Enjoy.

Thanks, I'm sure it will.
I did'nt realise that the EZ-warm and EZ-neutral inks were
interchangeable. If I do wish to obtain a cooler print, which inks
should I swap?

Cheers,
Anne

Hello Gary,

Aye, I will ... print away AND listen to Paul!
This forum is a fantastic resource, so much expertise and knowledge,
freely given - the web at its best, and much appreciated.

Cheers,
Anne

I bought the C86, unpacked it, put the Epson ink cartridges in a
drawer and went directly to the MIS inks. No problem. A great and
simple solution to b&w printing. Edward --- In

Ah Christer, you probably made the mistake of visiting in the summer,
which in Britain begins in April and ends in June(in a GOOD year that
is) ;-/

Thats good to hear, Edward. I have an Epson R200 for colour
printing, output is suprisingly good for such a cheapie. If I can get
comparable results from the C86 and the EZ inkset, I'll be more than
happy.
Cheers,
Anne
