Hello, I just joined this group. Seems like lots of experience here. I am fairly new to all this and I have a question: I have an Epson Stylus Photo785EPX. Does anyone have experience converting this printer to Black and White use only? Thanks for any thoughts. Steve

Hi Steve If I have my models right, the 785 is the card-reader equipped version of the 780, and takes the T007 and T008 carts. If that is the case, it is a cheaper, noisier version of the 870/890, both of which have been used succesfully in the past, though I'm not sure how much support they have right now with either QTR or IJC/OPM. At the very least you can get either empty or pre-filled carts of the Eboni ink and get some good Black-Only (BO) prints at 2880dpi. You might also be able to adapt Paul Roark's workflows for the 1280 & 890 (same printehead) though it's probably a long shot. Your best current headache-free inexpensive approach is probably to leave the 785 for color, and pick up (eBay?) a C-86 for B&W. The ez-B&W inks do a good job, are plug-and-play, and with refillable carts and bulk ink the expense is quite low. Hello Steve, Thanks for your reply and suggestions. Maybe I will start looking around for a C-86 since I hear much about using this for dedicated B&W. I would like to buy myself a new Epson 1800 sometime this year.... Thank you again, Steve T --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Steven Karafyllakis" <steve@s...> wrote:
