Digital BW, The Print

After restarting the printer it did print a page of test text.  Then I
tried to print a photo and it was smeary and blotted with ink.  Now it
appears that ink has drained into a rectangular "cup" under the rest
position of the head.  I thought this was supposed to be the "foolproof"
system for BW.
I guess some of us fools are bigger than others.
