Digital BW, The Print

Howdy,

Let me tap into your wealth of knowledge, please!  I just received my 
new C86 and MIS refillable ink carts, the type with the sponges.  I am 
using the EZ inks, of course.  

I am not able to get good head check, despite letting the printer sit 
for over a day and running multiple cleaning cycles.  It has gotten a 
little better, but not so much.  I did a test print on Epson Enhanced 
Matte, and it has terrible banding.  Any suggestions?

How much of the sponge should be soaked in ink?
