Difference Between UT2 and VM Inks

Difference Between UT2 and VM Inks

2005-04-30 by Bob Marsolais

Does anyone (hint, Paul!!!) know how the inks differ between MIS's
UT2 and VM inksets? Are there any common inks between the them?

Thanks for the help!

UT2 and VM inks are very different. First, the VM inks are old, obsolete,
warm shift and fade. In short, I want them off the market and don't support
them.

The upgrade for the VM inks are the UT1 inkset. There are curves for these
inks and they are as lightfast as any inkset made.

The UT2 uses a different approach that was needed to do better glossy
printing, add an "EZ" sliders workflow, and extend the range to sepia.
While the VM was designed for old quadtone printers and required complex
curves, the UT2 is for 1280 and newer printers only and has much simplified
curves -- basically the Epson driver does all the cross-overs. UT2 curves
will not work with VM or UT1 inks.

Hope this helps.

Paul,

Thanks for the answer. I wish I knew this before I bought them.
InkJetArt was having a clearance sale and I purchased the set. I
guess I'll just have to pick up the UT2 inks.
