2000P query

2000P query

2005-05-05 by Gary Barnett

You guys have me wondering if I might be able to try this out. Problem
is, my 2000P has been sitting in a box ever since the 2200 went on the
market. I was loathe to toss it out, but wonder now if it is
permanently clogged and dried, never having had the foresight to flush
out the inks prior to boxing.

Has anyone resurrected a 2000P from this form of negligence? I'd hate
to go through the investment process, even of fresh cleaning carts, if
it's a no-brainer that I should quietly bury the printer in the back
yard.

Did you fire it up to see it's condition? I would just spray some
Simple Green on the parking pads, let it soak overnight and give it a
whirl. If you get good nozzle checks then perhaps some new ink would be
due. Don't pull the plug yet.

Have you actually tried using it yet?

If the suggestion below does not work, buy cleaning carts from MIS and let
that sit in there for a while. Also, cleaning the heads from the bottom
with some bias tape (or folded paper towel) and Windex or Simple Green might
knock off dried ink. You may well be able to save the printer. Any clogs
will be right at the outlets.

Good luck.
