Roy,

I tape hang matte prints behind an over matte, and then put them in a
black
metal frame with acrylic glazing. Aside from the static & dust on the
acrylic, this is much easier than dry mounting.

I saw some museum glass the other day that would help with reflections.
However, it may be more sensitive than acrylic, and there still are some
(greenish) reflections of lights.

1) You'll find evidence in favor of wet mounting with Nikon 8000 on
the Kami website.

2) The fluids evaporate very rapidly and cleanly.

3) Wet mounting doesn't "dissolve grain," it reduces a scanner's
tendency to exaggerate grain.

4) http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SCANMAX/?yguid=96117688

... a wet mount-oriented site for flatbeds. Julio Fernandez is able to
answer all questions in depth. He does sell wet mounting kits but he
doesn't promote them actively on the site.

Hi Roy.
Look at 3M Scotch Positionable Mounting Adhesive. It is considered
"Photo safe" and can be hand done(no press needed).
You simply apply it, peel the backing sheet, position the print and
burnish. It seems to work nicely where suspension mounting isn't
effective for whatever reason.

Regards.
Duane

I;ve found that the positionable adhesive will release in places over
time
giving a billowy effect to the print. I much prefer dry mounting and
haven't
seen any deleterious effects yet. Of course, I don't know what Wilhelm
age
testing would show for drymounted inkjets.

If youhave problems with the 3M Positionable Adhesive releasing over
time, try coating BOTH the print and the mounting substrate with a
layer of the adhesive. I've found that two layers, back to back like
this, insure reliable long-term adhesion.
