New IJC/OPM results: Better Dmax, but rougher
2005-06-05 by keithd2010
I've been experimenting with the new IJC/OPM on my 1280 (with UT2 on EEM). As suggested by Joe Berndt, I set the ink limits to half what they were for the profiles from the previous IJC/OPM release. This gave an excellent starting point. Tweaked the ink limits for the black and dark-grey inks. Increased dmax by 0.04. Relinearized. Results seemed pretty good. However... The new OPM seems to print rougher than the old one. For all tones except almost pure black, dots are more visible and smooth tones are not as smooth. Edges are not as sharp or well defined. Seems like the dither pattern has changed. I thought at first that it was just that my printer has changed since I last did a linearization. But I printed two test strips on the same piece of paper, once with the old version 1.0.3 and again with the latest release. Definite difference. Has anyone else noticed this? -Keith
