what papers do you use?

what papers do you use?

2005-06-10 by jonnytenz

I know this question has been asked many times before,
however things change fast in the world of digital printing.
Plus the onset of new inks ,and the permmance thing, being a constant
problem all the time with inkjet printing.

I was just wondering what the concensus was about good combinations
between pigment inks-papers and dye based ink- papers.

Plus what do you think is a goood paper for permanance in regards
 to price ratio.

I don't know how many people have noticed ,but good silver gelatine
papers are becomeing cheaper than good digital papers.

So any one with a tread to add?

 just trying to keep up

 Thanks J Tenza

"Carbon on cotton" is still hard to beat. With pigments the substrate does
not make nearly the difference that it does with dyes. For dyes, the
swellable emulsion papers are, in general, the most stable, but they may
still be an order of magnitude less stable than the best carbon pigments.

Epson UltraSmooth is about the best I've tested. Premier Art Hot Press 205
appears to have the same coating. So, it may be the best value in terms of
lightfastness for the price.
