Dear Roy
Some more feedback on a great product: I've also downloaded QTR to
try with my R800. I'm getting banding regardless of the settings I
use (i.e. at all dpi settings and using the different dither patterns
and different curves/mixes of curves). The 2880 dpi + normal dither
setting with a 50% cool/black curve mix is currently the smoothest I
can get - but not quite perfect. The next best is the 1440x1440 +
normal dither + black curve only. If I can get rid of the banding,
QTR will be a great solution: the B/W print tones are just what I
want. (NB: I have performed all the usual cleaning/alignment cycles,
and colour prints through the Epson driver have no banding).
I have previously printed B/W using MIS inks with Paul Roark's curves
in a 1290. These have worked really well, when they worked - I have
had recurrent banding problems with the old VM inks and the latest UT
inks, which can be frustrating to say the least.
Many thanks
Stephen
