Tom, good to hear that your start was o.k. with FS ink. Theres nothing more frustrating than a thoretically great system that you never get to work properly. I have meanwile switched over to MIS VM ink. It is similar to FS, except that you can adjust from cool to warm tone and if you wish you can get exactly the Full Spectrum tone which is rather warm) I use the Epson driver, for my eyes it gives the same quality, if not slightly better (Bernd who is also on the list was so friendly to make comparision prints for me with MIS vs. FS, Piezo driver vs. Epson), unfortunately the Epson driver is very sloooow. But thats good, so I am not seduced to do too many prints, and while printing the PC remains fully useable anyway. Concerning the curves, I started with the Woolf curves but found it too dark, especially in the shadows. I have modified it, if you wish I can send you my modified curve. Id reccommend you to print a (dont know the english word:) strip that gradually goes from deep back to white (8" wide will do perfectly). THen you can very well see in which tones the curve needs adjustment. It should be as smooth and regular as possible... For normal use I also prefer Epson Archival Matte, its very good and relatively cheap, even in A3 size. Are you on CIS now? If not I would recommend you. With the 1160 there shouldnt be any problems and its *much* cheaper to use bulk inks than carts... The MIS CIS works perfectly fo rme here, its cheaper than NoMoreCarts. good luck Bernhard

Bernard- Thanks for the encouragement... I made my first FS prints yesterday and I'm very happy with them... Still some tweaking to do, some papers to try, but the great news was that once I loaded the carts, everthing went fine... No mulitple cleaning cycles etc... Do you use Cone or Epson drivers? What papers do you like best. I find the FS considerably more neutral than piezo (can be good or bad)... So far the best prints for me are clearly on Epson Archival Matte (not my favorite paper but the blacks are perfect!!! Do you use the John Wolf curves? Any advice on how to use them... That's something new to me. This has me very encouraged... Thanks again. Tom O'Connell
