Epson C86 in Australia

Epson C86 in Australia

2005-07-03 by Geoffrey Meadows

Does anyone know if the Epson C66 is equivalent to the Epson C65 in
Australia? They look similar and have the same specifications. Also, does
anyone know if the MIS EZ inks for the C86 (which apparently uses the same
carts as the C66) can be used in the C65 and whether they are available in
Australia.

The C65 is the Asian/Australasian equivalent of the European/North
American C66. Same goes for the C85 vs C86. The carts are the same
physically but the chips are different. So you won't be able to use the
MIS C86 carts in them.

It's getting late so my brain is fried. I just thought of a workaround.

In case you can only get the C86 EZ carts, take off the chips from a
used set of C65 carts, replace the chips on the C86 carts and reset
using a chip resetter. Be careful to put the chips on the corresponding
"colour" as they are cartridge number specific.

K2 thanks for the advice.

Has anyone tried the trick of replacing C65 chips with C86 chips? Is this a
common thing to do? I'm really interested in the MIS solution and don't want
to waste (even a small amount of) money on a C65 if I can't get it work.
