For years I've been using 13x19,17x22, and rolls of HPR and HGerman etching for my 7600(MIS UT7 ink) and 3000 (MIS) quad, after trying a zillion other papers. Today, out of desperation I went to Staples for a pack of 8.5x11 for my C86 (MIS EZ warm)- and bought EEM. I've never gotten better prints.I'm stunned!

Such a shame that EEM is acidic, but then that is probably one reason it performs so well. But for non-archival display, it's the standard. Paul www.PaulRoark.com

If you want an excellent substitue for EEMatte I would suggest you try Innova Fiba Print. I'm glad I found out about it . It is similar but better and thicker and more substantial. John -- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "dfaprinting" < dfaprinting@y...> wrote:

How does the Innova Fiba Print compare to the Soft Texture Art? I tried the STA and wound up throwing most of the package in the garbage. I am selling prints to a local dealer and did one on EEM because, frankly, it looked better than half a dozen other papers. However, now I see that it's acidic which means, I suppose, that prints I represent as having a long life may not have not. If the Fiba Print is a good substitute, I would be very happy to use it. Thanks.

How do you get profiles for these papers like Hanemuhle ? I use EEM on my 2200 and would like to try these other papers. But I don't know where you obtain the printing profiles. I'm not interested in creating my own profiles at this time. Thanks. Hello.....The calumet store is pushing this paper, and it does look pretty good. The matte feels nice, and the others are about like epson papers....but I cant find any claim on their website about if it's archival. The "Sales" guy says that it is archival, but the website does not mention it.......nor could i find out who makes it.....any body know what it is? thanks, DM

Tell him you want proof. If they are going to sell papers they should be able to back it up with tech info. If they cannot supply that info, I would think twice about taking the chance. If it goes weird in 5 years for example, will they replace it? Mark On Jul 25, 2005, at 4:18 PM, Douglas meeuwsen wrote: > The "Sales" guy says that it is archival

I have curves for the Innova paper (and others) for both the 2200 with UT7 and C86 with EZ inks. With the C86, driver Color Control settings are close, but I've been using an additional grayscale curve to make prints that more closely match those made on my 7600 and other printers that use curves. All the curves are posted and can be reached from my index at http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/index.htm . Paul www.PaulRoark.com

Somewhere I have spectral graphs of the paper white of a rather large selection of papers, that's one of the first things I do when I try a new paper. That also means I have a pretty fat swatch book of papers that I've tried, most with a profile target printed on it. The unfortunate part is that I changed inks part way through, and changed spectro's too, so it's a little bit oranges to grapefruits I still need to retest a few papers (canvas) to make sure I gave them a fair chance, the Innova papers is one group, and several of the Hawk Mountain are the other (of the ones that I'll mention at this time).

Peter, Innova Smooth Cotton has more of a cottong feel to it as Fiba print is more of the tradtional fiber base paper we were use to using in the darkroom. The smooth cotton is exactly that, cotton. I have been able to get a higher DMax on the Smooth Cotton than the Fiba print. Moisture alos effects the Fiba print more than Smooth Cotton as the cotton absorbs more of the ink. So if you choose to use the Fiba watch your print settings. Eric
