OT - Printer won't recognize installed cart

OT - Printer won't recognize installed cart

2005-08-09 by bfwoolner

I know this has been asked before but I can't pull it up in the archives.
Have just refilled and installed (with appropriate clicks and green light on
chip resetter) all inks on my Epson C82. Printer recognizes the black and
cyan but not the magenta and yellow. Prior to this I have gotten a message
saying these were not Epson Carts and allowing me to click OK to continue.
Not so this time, I get a "Printer does not recognize installed cartridges"
everytime, can't do a nozzle check, head cleaning much less print. Any and
all help appreciated. Thanks.

It's odd the 2 chips would go bad at the same time. Have you tried
re-installing them (and checking that they are in the right slots)?

They are definitely in the right slots and I've gotten a green light using
the chip resetter. Have reinstalled several times, checking the chip each
time. Would the light turn green on the resetter if the chip is defective?
Thanks, Paul.

It's odd the 2 chips would go bad at the same time. Have you tried
re-installing them (and checking that they are in the right slots)?

Barbara,

I don't know. Usually the chips that I've had that are defective never work
at all in the printer.

It could be that 2 chips failed at the same time, but I'm suspicious there
is something else that is causing it.

Do you have some other carts that you could test or swap chips with?
