No, the 1160 appears dotless as well. It's just that the 7000 is not
dotless with the Espon driver (although still more than good enough
for me - I always liked this printer). Given the 7000 has larger
dots than the 1160 (although I think they are still only half the
size of the 3000 dots), I was worried that I would see a diference
between the 1160 and the 7000 in this regard. Well, there is a
difference, but it's not in the dots :-) The 7000 seems to have
slightly better blacks, and even better shadow detail.
