MIS cartridges - prefilled vs do-it-yourself

MIS cartridges - prefilled vs do-it-yourself

2005-08-11 by adolphamster

I have been using MIS cartridges for my Epson 1280 printer
(ARC-T009-UT2 and - T007-UTK). But I am about to run out and order a
new supply. I have read much about their new refillable clear
spongeless cartridges. Some of that has been less than positive. Thus,
I ask whether I should continue using their filled cartridges or order
a supply of refillable spongeless cartridges, ink, etc. I'd appreciate
thoughts on this.

Thank you

Buy some of the spongeless carts, bottles of ink, syringes, needles
and a chip resetter. A small investment will keep you printing for a
long time. I'm sold on the spongeless carts for my 1280.

I filled some of those spongeless carts with UT2 pigments yesterday.
It was a little messy, but overall the procedure was pretty manageable.
The only tricky thing, IMHO, is figuring out how to keep track of
the syringes and needles and bottom-fill adaptors for next time.
You might want to buy labelable bags, or a segmented box, or something
like that.

Ben: mark each syringe K, C, LC, M,.... with a Sharpie pen. Then
always lay out syringes and bottles of ink in that order. Too easy to
mess up otherwise.

Find a photographer that shoots Fuji 35mm film and get them to save
you some film cans. The Fuji ones are clear and make great storage.
Also those great little boxes that MIS ships in are very useful.

Good ideas.

Too small for this ...

That's what I'm using now for my ink and syringes.
