Digital BW, The Print

Staples has the Epson C-86 for $29.98! After rebate.



(I've never used the R200, but I own 2 C-86's with MIS EZ inks. And 
when Paul Roark says this printer is capable of producing B&W prints as 
good as any printer, believe it.

Out of the box with MIS EZ inks, the C-86 produces better quality 
prints than the 4800, IMO.

I've made some excellent looking prints with the 4800, but after lots 
of tweaking.)

I already have two Epson C86's, but thought another would be a good 
move.  Unfortunately, local Staples store don't have the deal you 
mentioned.  Lemme know where your deal is.  David Brose, a B&W hangeronner.

The deal I saw at Staples was for the C66.

That maybe because the printer Staples advertised is the C66, NOT the 
C86. It maybe basically the same printer as the C86, but I'm not sure.

I think I've read here that the C66 can use the MIS EZ inks. Maybe 
Paul Roark can comment on this if he reads this post.

Has anybody in here tried the MIS EZ inks in the R500 as it uses the

You can sometimes find good deals on sealed C86's on craigslist or
similar classifieds - Epson was basically giving them away with camera
bundles, and many people don't need another printer.

Looks like they go for $35-$50 on ebay, but careful with the
shipping...($20? Ouch!)

Refurbished C86s are available from the Epson website for $55 (after $20) 
rebate. In addition, they will include a wired print server for free. The 
C86 refurbished warranty is the same as new. I have 2 of them (one for 
color, one for BW) and the printers appear new to me. I've been very happy 
with the performance of both.

Neither of mine are like that. If I were you, I'd be communicating with 
Epson to arrange a replacement with both ports - I'm pretty sure an error 
was made. I'm surprised to hear that a C86 w/o a USB port even exists!
