Any Reason to Use New QTR?

If one doesn't have and doesn't wish to buy i1 or something comparable I gather that profiles can't be created with QTR create-ICC-profiles. If that's the case, is there any reason to use the latest version of QTR assuming one isn't having any problems with the previous version? I do have a reflection densitomter (and FWIW, a transmission densitometer). Could it be used to create profiles with the latest version of QTR in lieu of i1 and with the same degree of precision and ease as i1?
