Digital BW, The Print

I am quite interested in your suggestions for a B&W printer.

I will be doing only B&W 8x10 or smaller. So I am not sure there is 
a reason to go for the larger format printers.

Some have said it makes more sense to find one of the older Epson 
printers that have only 4 inks instead of 6.

Or should I just go with a Photo 890

At lot of people like the 1160, but again it is large format.

Ideas?

I have an Epson C80 (along with a 3000) and have been enjoying it 
quite a bit...enough so that I will be replacing cartridges this 
weekend :-)  IT IS a FOUR ink printer for $179 or under (shop 
online)...

It is one of the newest printers from Epson and one of the first to 
introduce longer lived inks (aside from the 'archival' 2000).  The 
C80 is an extension of the original thinking behind the 3000 by 
having larger individual CMYK cartidges for office type use.

I saw at http://www.tssphoto.com/sp/dg/ the other day a reference to 
having a Continuous Ink System (CIS) for it in a few short months 
(Jan2002 but I always give some room).

I personally purchased this printer suspecting this sequence of 
events.  I have an 1160 on order but it may be out of stock, in which 
case I will wait for a large format version of the C80 to work as a 
second 'art' printer.
