Epson 4800 B/W Impressions and Comments.

Epson 4800 B/W Impressions and Comments.

2005-11-04 by palladiumprinter1

Based upon recommendations of this group I purchased an Epson 4800
for my studio. I received the printer and have been working with it
for thast few weeks. The B/W out was lovely and I was quite pleased.
I have been making prints on Epson Enhanced Matte and Hahnemuhle
Photo Rag.

I say "was pleased" because I have subsequently purchased the
Imageprint RIP and I am noe ECSTATIC!

The difference in image quality between the Epson 4800 driver and
the ImagePrint RIP with Gray Epson and Hahnemuhle profiles is
astounding. Shadows detail, highlights, tonal smoothness and
sharpness are simply breathtaking.

The difference in my own subjective opinion is like night and day.
In comparision to the Quadtone RIP I downloaded for trial is also
like night and day. The QTR was OK, but the prints from the
ImagePrint RIP have a luminance glow that every photographer strives
for.

Just thought I would share my experience and thank those who helped
with my decision. Based upon the results, I have placed a 9800 on
order as well.

Thanks

Michael Johnson

Mike,

The Imageprint RIP sounds great.
How much does it cost?

I've had my 4800 only a few days, so I'm still in the early learning mode.

Is there a way to print on paper smaller than 8 x 10"?

Is there a way to print with narrow margins/boarders all the way
around (my 2200 has a "minimize margins" mode that the 4800 doesn't
seem to have)?
