Epson Photo 950/960 B&W Printing

Epson Photo 950/960 B&W Printing

2005-11-08 by jpk_sigge2005

Hi
I'm very interested in trying B&W printing, but I have an Epson Photo
950 (in the US 960 model). I have never seen this model mentioned on
any related pages. Is there someone who can tell me if I can use this
printer with MIS inks? The printer has 7 cartriges, 2 (full)black + 5
photo colors.
I'm wery greatfull for all help I can get.

The 960 appears to be in the R200 family. See
http://www.epson.com/cmc_upload/0/000/030/242/SPR200_familyComparison.pdf

But, its specifications are quite different from the R200, and it uses the
MIS clear carts that are for the last generation, which included the 2200.
See http://www.inksupply.com/c82refill.cfm

There is no MIS B&W inkset specifically for the 960, but it may well work
fine with the R200 EZ inkset that will probably be out soon. You'd have to
hand load the carts, however, since the R200 takes the newer ones. There is
clearly some risk in trying a printer that has not been found to work well
with a particular inkset.
