Has anyone come up with a way to change sarts in the R1800 or R2400 without triggering an ink charge cycle? Thanks, Steve Karafyllakis

They don't do a "charge" which is about 1/3 of a cart. They just run enough to clear the fill tubes and heads. You really do want to do that.

Just the same, if I'm swapping tow carts out of the set to go to a K3 setup, I'd rather not waste even that amount of ink in the remaining six carts. I'rather come up with a two (or three or whatever) QTR flush for the exchanged carts-if its possible that is. So if anyone does come up with a viable way to fool these machines, by all means share! Steve Karafyllakis

Hi Steve, I think it may have been Clayton who contributed this method: - When you're ready to change the carts that are low, bring the carriage to the appropriate position - Replace the necessary carts but don't press the "ink" button - Wait several minutes for gravity to "prime" the head with ink from the new carts - Turn the printer off and wait a minute or two - Now when you turn the printer on again, the unit should assume the "ready state" without triggering a "charging cycle" I couldn't find the original post, so I hope that I have credited and quoted it correctly. The method does seem to work just fine... Hope this helps! Thanks, Richard, I'll try that one again, though I do believe I tried it a few months backs when I first started using an R1800. I don't think Clayton's been able to get it to work for his 2400 either-his first post was for the 2200. Anybody have any luck with this method?
