Detect Ink Label OFF instructions (was Empty (Virgin) Carts for the 7500)

You can turn off the cartridge ID sensor in the 7500 so it will take "non
Epson" cartridges. I have done this with both my 9500's.

You need to get into MAINTENANCE MODE 2

on the 9000 you press the Paper Source, Cut/Eject and Paper Feed Down
buttons while turning on the printer (hold all 3 buttons down at the same
time while powering on) - these buttons may be different on the 7000 though

When the menu comes up it should show INIT ALL

press PAPER SOURCE button until you see DETECT INK LABEL ON

press PAPER FEED DOWN and the message should read DETECT INK LABEL OFF

press ENTER

Power off printer

Power on printer and you should be able to use any cartridge, 7000 or 9000
size in your printer.

I use 3rd party cartridges on one of my 9500 printers and a CIS on the
other.
And if you haven't already, you may like to join the Epson 9000 mailing
list, over 1000 members strong, with discussion geared towards the Epson
wide format printers 7xxx, 8xxx, 9xxx, and 10000 series. See URL below,
