Luster Rag, Rag Satin and Silver Rag

Luster Rag, Rag Satin and Silver Rag

2005-11-24 by joaskild

Has anybady compared thise 3 paperes, Premier Luster Rag, Hahnemhle Photo Rag Satin and
Crane Silver Rag.

I am using Hahnemhle Photo Rag Satin and its a very beutifull paper with high dmax but its
just a bit too textured and I a woundering how the 2 otheres are compared to Hahnemhle
Photo Rag Satin. Also one need to couat this paper with some coating as there are a brovnish
shine otherwice to the mat reflection. I am interested in the feel of the cotten paper but I
would like the high Dmax wich one gets otherwice from the coated plastic paperes.

I would like to bay thise otheres paperes but havent found a resellers in Europa or near
Finland! Does anybady how sell Premier Luster Rag and Crane Silver Rag in Europa?

Crane's Silver Rag hasn't been relaesed yet.

And, in case you're not aware, the Silver Rag (100% cotton) is
a "glossy" paper that uses PK (photo black). That's what excites me.
opefully, it'll look like traditional air dried glossy fibre-based
paper.

Reports I've read on these groups about the Silver Rag sound really
promising.

Supposedly, Crane is going to send samples to me, I just don't know
when: Soon, I hope!

Thanks for the info on Cranes Silver Reg. I shall wait for it too! To bad that it is so
diffecould to find Cranes paperes in Europa.

With the Photo Rag Satin I use mat ink in my R1800 but I give it and after lack with R1800
gloss lack with out any picture printed just to take away the brouncing. It looks to me like
the Dmax is alot higher than Hanemüle photo rag or any of epsons rag paperes. I am
dreaming aswell of the fell and dmax of traditional air dried glossy fibre-based paper.

I am testing in the next month diffent coatings and have ordered ClearShields Mat and
gloss and Satin coatings to see if I can find someting between mat and glossy with a feel
of real paper.

It sounds like Premier Luster Rag is not so good as I had hoped but still I like to test it!

Would love to hear about your impressions when you have tested the Crane's Silver Rag!

Kind regarts

Joakim

Try this:

They have quite a good service with all the papers.
