Wouldn't anyone with the measuring equipment already have the software for
creating rgb profiles?

Or do you mean a greyscale rgb target measurement chart with related
reference file?

Bill Atkinson's latest release includes a number of greyscale charts
including one for the Eye1. Unfortunately, I cannot get the Eye1 to read it
in strip mode. Anyone else tried/succeeded?

Hi Tony,

This is from BA FAQ document:
...
What are the RGB 256 Grays and RGB 1024 Grays targets for?
These are not profile making targets.
Like the blocks of gray in some of the targets, they are useful for
visual and numeric evaluation of a printer or profile's gray balance
...
Does it answer your question?

Tony, can you tell me where you found the new Bill Atkinson charts?
Thanks,
Tyler

Well the i1Match software can sort of work with a gray scale target. In fact a while ago
I had a procedure to soft-proof this way. But if you looked at the forward curves
generated they were quite bizarre. It looked like an attempt to put wildly steep
curves to make more color where there wasn't any.

The QTR-Create-ICC tool is specifically designed for grayscale charts. Currently
it outputs a gray ICC profile but if I output the same data but in RGB format where
R=G=B I think Qimage should accept it.
