First prints with MIS UTR2N inks and r220

Well, i'm really happy with the results but....the same photo printed
in the wet darkroom is different: deeper blacks and a different look.
What can I do to have better results? is the paper important? right
now I'm using Epson matte heavyweight. Using a mix of neutral and warm
inks could change the final look?
I scan the negs (TriX) using a Dimage dual IV and postprocess with
Picture Window pro.
Thanks in advance from a newby

True. RC glossy papers can beat the silver print dmax, but many don't like
that look either. Under glass, I find the best smooth matte papers look
very much like a silver print under glass. Most matte papers have a poor
dmax, however. Hahnemuhle Photo Rag is traditionally the best, with EEM
(not archival due to acid) and Innova papers being close.

I like the PremierArt 205 due to price and reasonable dmax -- which means
over 1.60. You can see what I use at
http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/R220_R2_Readme.htm .

Be sure in processing your image that you have some very small 100% blacks
in the image. Use levels with the Alt key down as you slide the points in
from the ends to set it.

Good luck.
