Image Specialists GLOP compared to MIS GLOP

Image Specialists GLOP compared to MIS GLOP

2006-01-27 by Greg

I just received a bootle of their GLOP, and thought I would post a
quick observation and ask a question. The observation is that it is
not clear but slightly golden colored. Is the MIS GLOP the same or is
it basically clear?

Hi Greg;

The MIS glop is very slightly golden colored in the bottle; it used to
be tea-colored. I've sprayed 2-3 light coats on a few prints and can no
longer see any discoloration in the highlights, but with the new MIS
ink base I can't see any gain in Dmax either. The only gain is a more
even gloss between printed and unprinted areas, and elimination of that
tiny little bit of bronzing stille there.

Let us know how this compare with what you have.

I probably won't be using it to cover paper white. I bought it to
dilute photo black into lighter shades. Sounds like they are about the
same color in the full liquid form, and the only reason to check was
that soem people reported the MIS GLOP to be completely clear. I guess
clear to some people must be different from our opinions.

Also a note, the GLOP is used only with the Image Specialists UltraPro
photo black and the colors, not for use with the older inks. It might
also be used for the newer K3 replacement inks too, but I haven't
checked on that yet. For the older inks, and the matte black, you need
their WJ820 which they sell as cleaning fluid.
