Re: 7600 & BW inkset

I've been using a 7600 with MIS UT7 CFS system for a couple of years. I'm
not a techie, and I've never had a problem that couldn't be solved by someone
out there in the Epson Wide Format group or MIS. At the very beginning, I had
a clogging problem while it was still under warranty. After the tech-man
made a house call, he advised me to put a cool mist humidifier near the printer.
That worked, but after a while the hum drove me nuts. Instead, for the last
year or so, I put 3 wet sponges inside over the printhead, re-wetting them
every night. Sometimes, days go by without printing, while I'm scanning and
working on images, but I usually get a perfect nozzle check - or at worst have
to run a few cleaning cycles - never yet the heavy-duty ones. I don't use
spectrometers and densometers and all that jazz - just my eyes, and they tell me
that the MIS pigment inks are beautiful, the system easy to install, and
the people responsive. I haven't yet found a better paper than HPR to use with
this setup. I read all the evaluations on paper on this forum, and am still
waiting to hear if there's a paper that gives better results with the MIS pig
inks. Even my stubborn darkroom nay-sayer friends admit the prints look
pretty good. The blacks are deep and rich and the whites glow.
Good Luck.
