Swapping carts redux

My MIS carts have arrived! I've searched the forum and found some good info about swapping partially full cartridges in and out, which I paraphrase below. However, before I rip out the color cartridges and have myself a printing party, I hope someone can check to see if I'm making any stupid assumptions about this. The printer is an Epson R220. My intention is to swap in and out the OEM color cartridge set and MIS B&W cartridge set as needed. If I get into this, I may want to swap matte/gloss blacks and neutral/warm greys as well. My understanding is that the carts, and thus the mechanics of swapping, are unchanged since the R200 and C86. I also do not see mention of issues peculiar to swapping dye and pigment inks. It seems at least one successful method for storage is: - wash nozzles with water, tape nozzles, and store upright; and do a nozzle check after a swap. I'm assuming tape obviates the need for some kind of humidifying measure. I wonder though if the kind of tape is important (other than the need for watertightness)? And I also wonder if the printer/driver will complain or get confused and what I can do about that? I assume there is some "clearing" time before the colors/tones settle in after a swap and that I should run a throw-away page or two. Any comments or pointers would be appreciated. - Bob
