black and white setup

black and white setup

2006-02-10 by badsurfer67

I've got a 1280 and a r220, I don't want to have redundant printers so
I thought I'd setup up one to be a dedicated black and white printer.
My question is which one to convert to a black and white printer. I
know this is very subjective but I really don't have a preference in
the size I print, I mean it is just as nice to print large black and
white prints than. I am just looking to have the best of both worlds
at a reasonable cost.

Thank you,

Brian

The R220 is a great B & W printer - If you set it up
with Paul Roark's UT-R2 inks with Eboni in the K
position you can use it for continuous tone or Black-
Only printing. I prefer the Warm set which is pure
carbon - but there is a relatively stable neutral set
as well if that is your preference. Both are
available from MIS.

I have two R220's - one set up the way I just
described and the other with the OEM inks for
non-archival (not artistic) technical color printing
(including onto CD's) and I couldn't be more pleased.
(I paid ~$35 for each after rebates and both included
a full set of 6 OEM carts.)

Thanks again to Paul Roark for the ink-sets and
support and to Clayton Jones for the info on BO. See
both their sites for more info...
